A trader profited close to $500,000 on the ouster of Nicolás Maduro just before it was made public, leading to inquiries about whether someone profited from inside knowledge of the event.

Sudden Shift in Forecasts

Wagers on Polymarket, a crypto-powered platform, that the Venezuelan president would be removed from office by the close of the month rose in the hours before former President Trump stated on January 3rd that the Venezuelan leader had been apprehended.

A particular user, which joined the platform recently and made four bets, all on Venezuela, profited a total of $436,000 from a initial bet of $32.5K.
