The second-hand shopping app has altered its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel but did not contact every member regarding the update. Social Media Response Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display a different size category versus the original listing as a result of the reclassification. The company said the new system was more in line with similar services. It has advised users to examine their items and update the measurements by hand where appropriate, causing user dissatisfaction. Measurement Approach Updates Previously, the sizing featured one number and one letter, such as S/8 or M/10. The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10. With some products, the size labels have been reassigned - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but is now a UK 16-18. Member Experiences Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult". "Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes. Stephanie Gallen, from Glasgow, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were appearing on the platform as measurements 20-22. "If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they're going to be very disappointed," she said. Necessary Adjustments Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, said she had been left angered by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing". "For me this is particularly frustrating, as I'm chronically ill and platform income has been essential for me since losing part of my income," she said. Marketplace Information The app has more than 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK. It has emerged as a preferred choice versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop. This is not the initial instance when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: last year, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
